Waterdown Car Detailing is a mobile car detailing business who details at location of the customers house. Started in 2016 by 2 university students, the company has grown significantly over 4 years, maintaining a stellar customer base of over 750 clients, and hiring 4-6 employees each summer. Currently, we operate two separate detailing crews 5 days a week, and reduce to one crew operating throughout the weekends. The company has invested into top of the line detailing equipment including high-powered extractors, steamers, vacuums, power washers, and a trailer to carry everything to the job site. Once at the job site, the water from the customer’s house is used for the washing, while the gas generator is used to power the rest of the equipment. Waterdown Car Detailing customers are both commercial and residential. On the residential side there is a mix between families with messy children, to car fanatics who would like a fresh wax on their sports car. On the commercial side, we have contracts with landscaping fleets, school busses, and construction companies. Since the company is mobile, many companies will have us come onsite to detail employee’s cars during the weekdays. The procedures for detailing have been well documented in a manual created which outlines the packages, prices, and services Waterdown Car Detailing offers. Currently, there are 3 primary packages offered for a standard vehicle ranging from $70-$230 depending on the level of cleaning. The company has invested in a large 10ft x 20ft tent which can be put up if the weather is unfavourable.
Operating times have historically been May 1st – August 31st since students have that time period off from university each summer. A successful new owner/operator will have access to a vehicle, preferably one with a hitch that can tow a small utility trailer, and interested in entrepreneurship. In this case, the owner/operator will be managing payroll, scheduling, employees, and cleaning cars when needed. The company can be run from the new owner/operators house, and in the past all crew members would meet in the morning to be given the daily schedule, topped up supplies, and the two crew leaders would run their respective crews.
All assets, supplies, and promotional materials total about $7,500 and are included in the asking price. The next steps to grow would be to increase from running two separate crews to three to keep up with demand.
